Hello! My name is Luz Estrella, thank you for visiting A Scrumptious Bite.
I’ve created this blog with a desire to inspire others to cook. Don’t worry I promise you, you don’t have to be an expert. I believe that when we do things with love and dedication anything can be achieved.
As far as I can remember, I have always had a passion for cooking. It’s something that my mother instilled in me from a very young age. She really has been a fundamental part of this journey. Watching her cook and enjoying the process has always been very inspiring to me. My inspiration also comes from great cooks from the Dominican Republic (Where I am from). Watching cooking shows was my favorite hobby, and I always dreamed of having my own show someday. Back then it felt like I was part of an extreme sports competition, trying to write the ingredients and instructions of the recipes before they were removed from the screen (the internet was not common at the time). I truly treasured these recipes. I felt so accomplished whenever I could write the whole recipe! I would show them to my mom so that we could try and make them eventually.
There is a phrase that says: “There is no love more sincere than the love for food” by George Bernard Shaw. I can agree with George Bernard Shaw, however, I must add to this phrase that apart from food there is no love more sincere to me than the love of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ… However, I understand George Bernard Shaw perfectly because when you have a passion for something, that becomes your main focus. That for, you invest your time and love into that one thing until you’ve reached satisfaction and in other words it’s perfect. I believe that love is the most important ingredient. It is the element that gives the special touch to food. I could compare love to the salt that a savory food needs and sugar in a dessert. Without these ingredients the food is tasteless. It is essential that everything that I make in the kitchen it ’s done with love. How important is food to me? I will like to start by saying that there is not one day that goes by and I’m not planning what I’m going to eat throughout the day or what foods I will like to try at a restaurant, or what recipes I can come up with. After many years of debating career choice and finally graduating from law school in the Dominican Republic, I decided to pursue my true passion. I attended The Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. I can say that was such an eye-opener for me and it turned out to be such a rewarding experience. Ever since I’ve been inspired to create dishes and share my passion with the world. I’ve planted the seed and now my desire to inspire others and share my dishes through “A Scrumptious Bite” is born.
God bless you.
