This is the perfect time of the year to be carefree alright! And by carefree I mean… Eat whatever you want for the next upcoming weeks. This Lemon and Herbs Butter is not the exception.

I love cooking because you can turn something ordinary into something extraordinary, like this Lemon and Herbs Butter.

Have you ever done a happy dance in the kitchen? That is exactly what I did while preparing this butter. My first thought was WOW! This is the reason why I love cooking so much (sometimes I think out loud).

Adding some herbs and lemon can be a game changer, and give a mouth-watering taste to butter. Even though butter it’s rich in flavor by itself.

I went to my aunt’s house for Thanksgiving and we had a feast. We had Pernil (Pernil is a slow-roasted marinated pork leg or pork shoulder), rice and green pigeon peas, plantain beef pockets, salad and of course the star of the show, roasted chicken with lemon and herb butter (I’ll share the recipe soon).

This lemon butter it’s very simple to make and it could enhance a dish’s flavor. To start, the butter should be at room temperature, because it makes easier to incorporate all the ingredients. I made a combination of fresh and dried herbs, garlic and lemon. You can also feel free to add your favorite herbs.

The good thing is that you can chill this butter for later use. I made a log using wax paper, however, I recommend using parchment paper instead. If you don’t want to do this, you can store it in a container instead.

I made it by hand, but you can use a mixer. If you are making it by hand please make sure you use a fork to combine the ingredients.

I know we get busy sometimes before any holiday dinner, but many people (including me) get desperate while waiting. I need snacks! (am serious) check this Butternut Squash Dominican Johnnys Cake, believe me, everyone will thank you.

Ultimately, I think this butter would add a great flavor to any roasted veggie as well, I also tried it with baked tilapia. It is definitely a game changer.

Lemons and Herbs Butter

Delicious Lemon and Herbs Butter


  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh tarragon leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 3 garlic cloves chopped
  • Juice of one lemon (about 3 tablespoons)
  • salt and pepper
  • Step 1 In a bowl add the butter, tarragon, sage, thyme, garlic and the lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Step 2 Stir by using a fork until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Step 3 Note: Transfer the butter out onto a large piece of wax or parchment paper and shape it into a log, wrap it tightly. Make sure you seal the ends.
