Pesto Sauce

I think everyone at a point in their lives is a bit lazy. We want to eat, but we do not want to cook or even order takeout. If you sometimes feel this way, then this is the perfect recipe for you. It is a simple pesto sauce that you can make in less than 20 minutes.



I love using aromatics. Basil is delicious and is the main ingredient in pesto sauce. There’s nothing like fresh basil to accompany a delicious pasta. Basil has many nutritional properties and is an excellent source of vitamin A or retinol that is essential to maintain good eyesight.



This sauce has its origin in Italy, the original recipe is mainly made of a mixture of basil, garlic, pine nuts, parmesan cheese and olive oil. Traditionally it is made in a mortar, but you can use a food processor because it is easier and faster.



There is nothing better in life than being able to do something without much effort and that tastes good, this pesto recipe is the perfect example. You just combine all the ingredients in the food processor and pulse a few times, and you’re done.



As I said before, this recipe is traditionally made with pine nuts, but many people use walnuts, almonds etc, in this case, I used pistachios. Although pistachio is not the main ingredient in this recipe, like basil, pistachios have many nutritional values, it is rich in fibers, vitamins, and minerals that are essential for a balanced diet.


This is an excellent recipe not only to combine it with pasta, but also with meats and even as a spread for a delicious sandwich or with a delightful Caprese salad.



Ingredients:


1/2 fresh basil leaves


4  cloves garlic 


1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil


1/3 cup parmesan cheese


1/2 cup of  pistachios


salt and pepper


Instructions:


  1. Combine all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until the pesto blends, and coarse paste is formed.
