Avocado toast recipe

Sometimes I get the most random ideas for a recipe, after all, cooking is art and inspiration for me comes from random places, and pure ingredients and this recipe is no exception. While I was walking in the supermarket a few days ago, this recipe came to my mind, it seemed delicious, and in fact, I was not mistaken.

As a Dominican, I can say that I am an avocado lover and although I do not speak for everyone, I know that most would agree with me. In our culture, avocado is an essential part of our cuisine, we accompany it with almost everything. In my country, if after finishing a meal you realize that there was avocado and that they did not offer you, you get sad. Avocado is perfect with rice, meat, bread, etc. My favorite treat was eating water bread (made in the Dominican Republic), avocado, vinegar, and salt, oh my God! It is delicious!

Avocado has many health benefits, some people say it’s a perfect fruit. It is a source of omega 3, it reduces bad cholesterol levels, etc. It is useful as a deep conditioning mask for your hair, but I do not think there is a better way to enjoy its properties than when we eat it, especially if it is accompanied by bread and bacon as it is in this case.

One of the reasons why I love this career is because food is art. With some fresh ingredients, you can make an extraordinary dish. This recipe is simple, but it is delicious.

This recipe is a no-brainer, there are not many ingredients, and it should take a few minutes to be ready. For example, while frying the bacon, you can reduce the balsamic vinegar and honey, while doing this you can cut the bread crust (this is optional) and smear the butter, you can toast the bread using the bacon fat from the pan. The avocado puree is the last thing we should make.

The avocado oxidizes after a few minutes when you cut it. That is why this is the last thing we do. Although I have always known this, when I was in school, I remember that we had to make a recipe and I had to make an avocado puree, on more than one occasion the chef shouted at me: Luz! Do not cut the avocado! It’s not time yet! When the avocado is exposed to the air, it oxidizes. Many people use the avocado seed and incorporate it in the center of the purée so that it does not oxidize; also some lemon juice would prevent the avocado from oxidizing. On this occasion, I did not do any of the above because I served it immediately. In case you do not serve this recipe right away, these tips can be beneficial.

Everything is about balance and what I like most about this delicious recipe is the balance between the salty and the sweet. The acidity of the vinegar, the sweetness of the honey, and the saltiness of the bacon, it makes this recipe a delicious bite, excellent for these last days of summer.

Let’s make some avocado toast Y’all.
